“Chuckie and the Rack” is a musical journey performed in concert/cabaret style filled with an array of songs and stories inspired from Mr. Basil’s life and career. This evening showcases Basil’s dynamic vocals with a diverse repertoire and featuring local veteran performers Kerrykate Abel, Loraine O’Donnell, and Sheila Connors( aka The Rack) on back up vocals. It features three and four part harmonies that are simply mind blowing….and you never know who else may show up!!!!
Chuck Basil has been one of Buffalo’s most recognized and respected performers for almost 30 years. Chuck first began playing at age 10, heavily influenced by the likes of Ethel Merman, Carole King and James Taylor. He has been working with the Catholic Diocese of Buffalo since 1982. After attending both Villa Maria and Canisius Colleges, Chuck would become a regular on the wedding circuit, where he has sung at over 2500 weddings to date. In 1999 he was selected to participate in the Eugene O’Neill Cabaret Symposium in Waterford CT; here he would be under the tutelage of legendary luminaries of cabaret such as Julie Wilson, Paul Trueblood and Sally Mayes. In 2002 Chuck would be hand selected by Mr. Marvin Hamlisch to perform with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, and to showcase a song, “Take Me To Christmas Past” that Hamlisch would write for him.
This limited engagement will begin on March 19th at The BUA Theatre at 119 Chippewa Street between Delaware and Elmwood Avenues, and will continue March 20th, 21st, 26th and 27th. All performances begin at 8pm, except for Sunday the 21st, which will begin at 7pm.
