Catherine Parker Remembers Tomorrow

Catherine Parker’s ‘Remembering Tomorrow’ exhibit opens tomorrow (Friday) evening at Insite Gallery, with a reception from 7 to 9 p.m., and runs through November 25.  As a testament to Catherine’s fascination with the connection between various arts, a poetry reading is scheduled at Insite Gallery on Sunday, October 21 at 2 p.m.

Cosby to the Rescue: Violence in Schools

Dr. Bill Cosby and Dr. Alvin Poussaint, co-authors of a new book that re-examines parenting and education among at-risk American youth, presented a fine hour of television yesterday.  Crime, violence, sexual exploitation and the usage of words like “ain’t” are only one part of the problem, Cosby says.  Compare that to the violence that broke out at two Buffalo city schools this week.

Savor the Flavor: Weekend Joys

I’m going to piggyback onto City Crasher’s post today about her wonderful weekend.  Like City Crasher, I had a relaxing weekend of comforting fun with friends, and though I can’t pretend to have discovered established gems of the city like she did, I do feel a great sense of pride in what I got done.

City Crasher: Three Snapshots, Recipe of a Buffalo Kid

We all work hard.  Every day we go to work, and we tell ourselves that our day will come and maybe we’ll be able to do those little fun things we all love to do.  I’m here to let you know that nothing is stopping you from those little fun things we all enjoy.  In fact, the little fun things are all around Buffalo and we should be proud to live in a place with those opportunities.  This aside, it’s been a long week.

Get Connected

Sometimes I forget how disconnected the suburbs can seem from the city.  Currently I am living and working in the city of Buffalo, but I attend school in the suburbs.  Although my commute is under an hour using public transportation (20 minutes by car), there are days when I am reminded that the suburban campus can feel like an island.
