City Crasher: Three Snapshots, Recipe of a Buffalo Kid

We all work hard.  Every day we go to work, and we tell ourselves that our day will come and maybe we’ll be able to do those little fun things we all love to do.  I’m here to let you know that nothing is stopping you from those little fun things we all enjoy.  In fact, the little fun things are all around Buffalo and we should be proud to live in a place with those opportunities.  This aside, it’s been a long week.

Get Connected

Sometimes I forget how disconnected the suburbs can seem from the city.  Currently I am living and working in the city of Buffalo, but I attend school in the suburbs.  Although my commute is under an hour using public transportation (20 minutes by car), there are days when I am reminded that the suburban campus can feel like an island.

Ireland and Spirit

Local photographer Val Dunne’s photography exhibition entitled, “Ireland and Spirit,” begins today at Betty’s Restaurant in Buffalo.  The exhibit, which features photographs of Ireland, runs through Jan. 6, 2008.

A Snoozy Doozy

I’m sitting in my cold apartment at the moment, unsure if I should turn the heat on or just relish in the myth that it’s too early in the season to turn the heat on.  It’s October, not January, after all.  Snow and cold and frozen tears don’t fall down quite yet.  Oh, right.  They do, they have.

What is Art?

I have no idea who decides what art is.  Can anyone be an artist?  Does your first grade finger painting qualify as art?  No matter who or what art is, I strongly believe that everyone should have a chance to find out for themselves through exploration.

2nd Annual Buffalo Niagara Film Festival

The Buffalo Niagara Film Festival, which premiered last year to great success, is going at it again this year.  The festival will take place March 24 to 29, 2008.  The board of directors and advisors is currently taking submissions for next year.

A-MAZE-ing Autumn!

Nothing says autumn like a good ol’ corn maze!  This weekend, I’m planning on getting into the spirit and “getting lost and finding fun!” As corny as it may sound, fall activities such as this can be a good time.  For me, most likely because they bring back memories from my childhood in the country.  If maneuvering one of these corn mazes is even half as interesting as the fun I’ve had researching websites for this post, then I’m giddy with excitement!
