Hot Pockets: Corpus Christi Defends National Title

Last year, Buffalo beat out Garfield, NJ; Lancaster, PA; Pittsburgh; and Providence, RI to win the first-ever designation of “Capital of the Pierogy Pocket of America” in a national contest sponsored by Mrs. T’s Pierogies. This year, the parishioners of Corpus Christi Church hope to defend the Queen City’s title, and at the same time, bring the “pierogi spotlight” back to the East Side with Buffalo’s biggest Pierogi Party.

This Year’s Model

Buffalo in Focus

It sounds stupid for me to be praising something so utilitarian now as the Internet, but with so much available at our fingertips, I’m still so delighted to come across sites like Flickr that both throws me out into the ether and lures me back into my own backyard.

City Crasher: Stranger In My Own City

With the sudden realization that being a homegrown Western New Yorker didn’t necessarily mean that I knew my city, I’ve created my own mission to discover. Think of it as an adventure, or a journey, with nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Three days in WNY with a new pair of eyes

This past week, we at Block Club had the opportunity to tour Buffalo with a new pair of eyes.  On Wednesday, our friend Ian came to Buffalo for the first time.  He’s from Tampa, FL and his only experience up north was a trip to New York City over 5 years ago.

This would be an opportunity for us to pick and choose where we would eat and what we would see.  With only 3 days in Buffalo, it was crucial that we show him all that Buffalo has to offer.  First impressions are the most important, right?

The Pedaler Gears Up

I’m a bike rider. I’m not Captain Super Bike-Rider, but I use my bike instead of my car to get me from Point A to most Point Bs. I love it. I really can’t tell people enough how much I love riding my bike everywhere. I feel like “Oh the places you’ll go…” everyday!
