Behind the castle: Artpark cabaret to benefit Benedict House

A follow-up on last week’s review of “Beauty and the Beast” at Artpark

Two local ladies starring in the show, Buffalo’s favorite actresses Lisa Ludwig and Loraine O’Donnell, will host a special benefit performance featuring cast members from “BATB” at Sheas’ Smith Theatre.  The evening will feature song and dance, cabaret-style, and the show’s director, Randall Kramer, on piano.  Proceeds from the evening will go directly to Benedict House in Buffalo.  The organization’s mission is ”to provide non-discriminatory residential housing opportunities and supportive services for persons living with AIDS in an environment promoting the principles of dignity, respect, understanding, compassion and self-determination.”

Benedict House is a wonderful organization in Buffalo, one that will benefit from an evening like this.  Expect Ludwig and O’Donnell to knock the socks off anyone who get in their way; these ladies can sing, and will.  Loraine kicks butt as the singing wardrobe, Madame de Aa Grande Bouche, and Lisa is the most seductive feather duster I’ve ever seen.  And the rest of the cast is a very talented group of locals and Broadway singers/actors/dancers/professional fabulous people.  You won’t be disappointed.

Beauty and the Beast Cabaret:  Behind the Castle
8 p.m. tonight at The Smith Theatre (660 Main St., next door to Shea’s)
tickets are available at the door and are a $15 minimum donation

See you behind the castle!
