Carvings for a Cause

On Sunday, October, 12, 2008, the 2 year anniversary of the 2006 October storm; J.P. Bullfeathers is sponsoring the First Annual October Storm Anniversary Party from 7-10p.m. at 1010 Elmwood Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14222.  Therese Forton-Barnes founded Carvings for a Cause after the 2006 October storm in an effort to turn the beautiful fallen trees, some as old as 200 years, into works of art which are displayed throughout the city.

Prominent Buffalo figures such as Grover Cleveland, Frederick Law Olmsted, Frank Lloyd Wright, Tim Russert, Ben Franklin, DeWitt Clinton, Chauncey Olcott, Jim Kelly, and Red Jacket are only a few of many carvings throughout the city.  Teressa Bellisimo, the founder of the Buffalo Wing, is currently on display at J.P. Bullfeathers along with the Black Bear, which is owned by Bullfeathers. Other carvings will be featured that night as well. 

The fund-raiser will include celebrity bartenders, a live carving demonstration where artist Rick Pratt will display his craft and carve a brand new piece, numerous food stations, and a silent auction featuring a variety of small items made out the wood from storm.  Tickets are $25 and available at J.P. Bullfeathers pre-sale or at the door.  All proceeds benefit Carvings for a Cause.
