Ehh-Okay, It’s Canada Day!

Today is Canada Day, ehh?

That’s not a question.  It’s a statement.  But as are most sentences in the Land Over Yonder (I just made that up; it’s cute, right?), this one ends in a question rather than a declarative period.  How defiant of you, Canada.  You sure know how to stump a silly American with your lingo.

Anyway, today is the day that Canadians wish they could celebrate the Fourth of July without a feeling of longing.  I mean, it’s the unofficial (but official, if you ask the right Wikipedia) birthday of the country.  Did you know that the provinces of Ontario and Quebec were originally one province called The Province of Canada?  That’s almost as silly as New York, NY.  (Or how about us having two Dakotas?  What’s that aboot?  What is so special about South Dakota that we have to point to it from North Dakota?  What is North Dakota north of, exactly?  And how does Dakota Fanning fit into the picture?  I haven’t a clue.)

In any case, if you were wondering, I will be celebrating Canada Day in Canada today.  A few years ago, when $5 USA could buy you a cheeseburger and a box at the Skydome, I went there much more often.  Today, I find myself north of the border if I’m at a loss for cheap kitchen doodads.  So, without further ado, I’m heading to IKEA for some Swedish meatballs and some Klorg desk sets.  I can’t wait for next Canada Day......ehh??

Also, for no apparent reason:
