
Food for Thought
The World on Your Plate Food Forum will take place on Sat., Oct. 13, starting at 8:15 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church at 1 Symphony Circle in Buffalo. The fourth annual event will offer a couple dozen workshops on food politics and awareness. This is a collaborative event presented by Indigenous Women’s Initiatives, Massachusetts Avenue Project and the Western New York Peace Center.
This year’s speaker will be John DeGraaf, producer of the film ”Affluenza." The film explores the ways in which people overuse and exploit various industries in America in order to keep up with the Jonses. DeGraff is the leader of the “Take Back Your Time” movement and will imbue a unique perspective on American consumerism as it relates to food.
Other offerings at the event will include vendors and information booths and workshops relating to a whole slew of food-related topics.
Registration costs $25 for adults and $10 for students, and is available at the door.
An organic lunch is included in the registration fee.
