Let Autumn Be!

At the market today,
To my utter dismay,
Christmas Trees were on display.
Now it’s barely October,
Hold up! Can’t you see?
Won’t you just let Autumn be?

The smell of crispness
Still fills the air.
It’s not even December,
So don’t you dare!
And I’m just not ready
To meet Winter’s despair.

The best of this season,
It just flies by.
Leaves burst with color,
Then they quickly dry.
Before you know it
The trees are bare
And the sky is so gray.
It’s just not fair!

Our moments with Autumn
Are too often fleeting.
So stop and enjoy.
Soon it’ll be sleeting!
In the blink of an eye
It’s already too cold.
And the next time it’s here,
You’ll be another year old.

At the market today,
To my utter dismay,
Christmas Trees were on display.
Now it’s barely October,
Oh, please! Can’t you see?
Won’t you just let Autumn be?

This is how I feel when I go into WalMart in July and see bathing suits on the clearance rack!  Let us enjoy the seasons without rushing us into the next one.  Love the poem...and the weather at the moment.
