Meet Western New York: Ellen Canfield
Name: Ellen Canfield
Hometown: Originally from Buffalo, but moved to East Aurora in 1990.
Ellen taught art classes to students at Akron middle and high schools for many years before painting fine china that is for sale at the Roycroft. She now teaches art classes for senior citizens at the East Aurora Senior Center.
BCM: What do you like to do during your free time?
Ellen: I enjoy painting for recreation. I recently had my garden renovated by Murray Brothers, so I plan on gardening and planting new flowers/plants this summer.
BCM: Do you have any plans for this summer?
Ellen: My club and I meet every other week, and we have been meeting for 62 years now. I also plan on doing more painting, continue teaching classes at the East Aurora Senior Center, work on some water color paintings. I also intend on visiting the Albright Knox Art Gallery this summer. I haven’t been there in quite a while. I would like to make it out to the lake for a summer party, and to visit the cottage that my family owned for many years. I also plan on attending a Buffalo State College reunion for alumni that have graduated 50+ years ago.
Photo of the Buffalo Naval Park thanks to this guy.
