St. James Playground Work Party
There will be a work party at the St. James Playground (corner of Elmwood and St. James) this coming Sunday, Sept. 23rd beginning at 1pm and lasting approx. 3 hours. Children are welcome to join their parents at the work party. The primary task will be installing a spring ride animal that is part of an on going project of donations and renovations by neighborhood families.
The St. James Playground has a wonderful history of neighborhood support that began with the St. James Neighborhood Assoc. getting a grant many years ago. The Lafayette Presbyterian Church has donated the space to be used as a playground and it’s enclosed space and prime location make it a favorite among neighborhood families especially with young children. Recent improvements have included a cover for the sandbox and repairs of existing equipment.
Over $1100 was raised by neighborhood families this past spring in order to do the above improvements and more is hoped to be raised. Ideally the group would like to put in a swing, plant trees and make the space more natural looking and replace the rotting bench. If you are interested in making a donation or getting involved then please contact .
