We’re Still Here

Hi there.  It’s been a while—too long—since we’ve posted.  Sorry about that.  We missed you, too.

The good news is that we weren’t off playing the sandbox or anything.  We just finished our 10th issue, The Giving Issue.  You’re going to love it.  You’re going to feel accomplished (if you follow some suggestions we throw your way).  You’re going to feel craft (if you know your way around a pair of scissors).  You’re going to feel generous (which is what this time of year is all about; it’s not just about sleigh rides and snow days).  We’re so proud of this one, as we are with every issue of Block Club; but we’re especially happy to spend this year’s holidays in such a giving way.  In The Giving Issue, we take a look at dozens of ways you can give your time, your knowledge, your support, your manpower, your used goods, and lots more, to those in town who really need it.  We hope you read it with an open heart, an open mind and a willingness to give back.  We don’t all have huge bank accounts (who does these days?) but we do all have something to give.  We hope you take some of our suggestions, many of which you already know about but don’t actually consider doing.  Let’s get up and do it.

Word around the office has been nothing but Tuesday’s election.  We all have our minds made up, as it’s been more than two years since this race began.  I’m thinking we could start 2012’s bidding in March, maybe give the new guy a break for a few weeks then get going on some posters.  We’re hoping you have an idea of who you’re voting for, and good reasons for that idea.  Needless to say (though I’ll say it anyway), this is a big one.  We won’t advertise our position—though anyone who knows us knows it—but we do push you to get yourself knowledgeable and to the polls on Tuesday.  Then get yourself some good food, plenty of wine and some friends and count down Tuesday night in front of the TV until the new guy is declared.  Let’s get out there and make ourselves heard!

Sorry for the delay here. But we’re back in full swing and ready to share with you some things we found out and discovered in the last week, in addition to our region’s coolest upcoming events.  There are some great activities coming up for those artistically inclined. Stay tuned!
