Williamsville Farmers’ Market continues to grow

The second year of the Williamsville Farmers’ Market is enjoying a very healthy season this year, as festival organizer Lynn Schwab has enlisted a great slate of guest vendors and artists for the remaining months of the popular market.  The market is held at the historic and beautiful Williamsville Water Mill on E. Spring Street (off Main Street, across from Village Hall, the library and Island Park) and has become a huge hit for the village and town.  And what a beautiful setting, too.

Here is an email I got from Lynn highlighting the remaining few weeks of the market, which includes some great musicians from Babik, some wonderful family entertainment and even more farmers and food vendors:

Dear Friends of the Farmers Market,

Sweet corn, melon, basil, tomatoes & more . . . the Farmers Market at the Williamsville Mill offers its September harvest.  Enjoy farm fresh every Saturday!

Farmers Market Calendar For September:

September 6 . . . FOOD DRIVE.  We are accepting non-perishable food items at our Market.  Call the Food Bank of WNY at 852-1305 for more information.  Music by CJ Squared Trio.  Children’s activity provided by Audubon Daycare.

September 13 . . . Literacy Volunteers- spin the wheel and win a book!  Music by Judd Sunshine.  Children’s activity . . . to be announced.  Welcome this week’s special vendor- Hands & Paws homemade pet treats.

September 20 . . . Boy Scouts of America at our community tent.  Music by Stu & Avery Weissman and Jim Kurzdorfer.  Children’s activity by Amherst Youth Board.

September 27 . . . ReTree WNY at our community tent.  Music by Stuart Fuchs & Joshua Assad.  Children’s activity provided by Gymboree.

FACT:  The average bite of food we eat has traveled 1,500 miles before it reaches our fork!  The food at our farmers market has traveled an average of only 30 miles!  No food is fresher or better tasting!!!

We’re always looking for volunteers to assist with parking, market info tent (greeting customers, handing out literature & water), set up and break down.  To volunteer call 632-7938.  It’s fun and no job is too small!

See you at the market!
Lynn
