Eleven years ago, Matthew Shepard was pistol-whipped and left for dead, tied to a fence in the middle of a field in Wyoming. This hate crime gained national attention, affecting not only the GLBT communities nationwide, but everyone. In response to this tragedy, The Laramie Project was born. This play, by Moises Kaufman and based on hundreds of interviews with community members, news reports and journal entries will be presented by the Subversive Theater Collective tonight in association with the Department of Visual and Performing Arts at Daemen College and the New Phoenix Theatre. 6 p.m. Manny Fried Playhouse, Great Arrow Building, 255 Great Arrow Ave., Buffalo. Admission is donation.
